Do you have visions for small-scale public space downtown? Know of some blank sidewalk space that needs some sprucing up? Or an area of street in need of some seating or greenery? Then join us for San Marcos' first annual Parklet Day, where you can create your own temporary mini park space for the day of September 27th and compete for a $500 people’s choice award to be applied toward the creation of a permanent parklet in downtown San Marcos!  

What is a Parklet? Put simply, a parklet is a miniature park! Temporary or permanent, parklets improve on-street parking spaces or unused portions of right-of-way (street or sidewalk) to provide small-scale amenities and green space for people in urban places. 

Setup can begin anytime the day of September 27th. Viewing will start at 4:30PM and the winning installation will be announced by 7:30PM. The Texas State Parent’s Weekend Downtown Wine Walk (see below) is the same evening from 6 - 9 pm so the streets should have plenty of folks to enjoy the parklets!
